LIFE AT SCHOOL

The student experience at The Gurukul Foundation School, Kashipur includes a diverse range of cultures, curricula, and extracurricular activities. We offer our students options to choose from, making them directly involved in designing their own educational path which meets the high standards of our core curriculum. The Primary School focuses on foundation for lifelong learning strengthened through projects, field trips, exchange programmes, emphasis on Understanding, Application and Effort, development of analytical, reasoning and application skills, DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), DEED (Debate, Elocution, Extempore, Drama)​, integrated learning for a holistic understanding of taught concepts and value education imparted through sharing and experiencing rather than the didactic approach.

Transition from Primary to Middle School is made easy due to the child friendly, child centric methodology of the school. Scholastic and Co-Scholastic areas are given equal emphasis to benefit students of varied interests and abilities. Children encouraged to participate actively in exposure trips, exchange programmes, exhibitions, project based learning, workshops for students and environmental initiatives.

PEDAGOGY

Pedagogy is the science and art of education. The school emphasizes on understanding rather than rote learning by adopting the interactive method of imparting knowledge. It preaches studying to gain knowledge and not just pass examinations. 

  • Individual attention to students with a maximum of 30 children to a class and a student teacher ratio of 15:1.

  • Continuous focus on training and skill building workshops for teachers, using the established expertise of The Shri Ram Schools’ Teacher Training Programmes.

  • Reading, Communication Skills and DEED (Drama, Elocution, Extempore and Debate) are important areas built within the curriculum. Certain ideas like only reading as homework till a certain level, extensive use of language labs etc. are part of the confidence building programme for kids.

  • Sports, Physical Education, Yoga and Aerobics are a part of the curriculum to develop healthy habits in kids’ right from childhood.

  • Use of Multiple Intelligence concepts in the Teaching Methodology.

  • Emphasis on developing a strong Value System in children.

  • Use of Infrastructure Facilities as an enabler for learning, e.g. Subject based classrooms from class VI onwards.

  • High involvement of parents as the third axis to complete the Teacher Student combine.

  • Classroom Experiments are activities where any number of students work in groups on carefully designed guided inquiry questions.

  • Cooperative Learning involves students working in groups to accomplish learning goals.

  • Interactive Lectures provide short activities that can break up a lecture.

  • The First Day of Class is your opportunity to stimulate excitement about the course, establish a positive classroom climate, and engage students with course content - right from the start.

  • Teaching with Visualizations helps students see how systems work.
