Students Discipline Policy

Policy:

The Discipline policy gives guidelines for the code of conduct for all students in school and what action shall be taken for any violation of school rules.

Purpose:

The Gurukul Foundation School is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment to all students which is conducive for teaching and learning. Students shall there by accept responsibility to demonstrate the type of behavior that promotes a positive learning climate. The purpose of the discipline policy is to state the general rules and regulations of appropriate social behavior for the benefit of the students, parents and teachers.

Guidelines:

  • Students of the school must abide by the code of conduct as laid down by the school.
  • Students shall be made to reflect ont heir actions during life skills.
  • Students shall be conscious of school values and must practice these values in their actions and speech.
  • Every students should display the qualities of:
  •  Decorum - towards peers, audits, school-property, uniform and rules. » Discipline - in all spheres of life
  •  Discerning - have the ability to distinguish right from wrong, suitable from unsuitable.
  •  Distinction - Exhibit individuality and excellence
  •  Drive - and the drive to achieve it, to succed in all avenues of endeavor.
  • The 5 Ps:
  •  Punctuality : To school, to class in submitting work
  •  Pride : In oneself, class, school
  •  Passage : walk on the side without running or shouting
  •  Property : Respect one's own and other's property
  •  Politeness : Address elders, peers and children younger than oneself with respect

SCHOOL RULES :

  • All students must report to school by the prescribed reporting time.
  • Students must use appropriate language at all times with teachers and peers
  • Students MUST NOT involved in any bullying, ragging, extortion.
  • There shall be no public demonstration of affection among students.
  • There shall be complete respect and allegiance to the school and student community. This includes exemplary behavior outside school at all times as true ambassadors of the school both while in uniform and out of uniform.
  • Students must practice silence and discipline in the silence zones.
  • Students must meet all deadlines for assignments and projects.
  • Students shall not exchange bouquets, which are also discouraged at school.

Discipline Policy and Consequences for Violation of School Rules* Funwork/Project not done

Consequence:

  • 1st time - Counseling, Reflection sheet by the child.
  • 2nd time - Reflection sheet and extra written work.
  • 3rd time - Reflection sheet, loss of privilege and extra worksheets.
  • 4th time - Meeting with Academic Co-Ordinator, class teacher and parents.
  • 5th time - Informing the parent(s).
  • 6th time - Meeting with parent(s) and Principal.

Misbehavior in class

Consequence:

  • 1st time - Counseling, Reflection sheet by the child.
  • 2nd time - Reflection sheet, meeting with class teacher and Academic Co-Ordinator
  • 3rd time - Reflection sheet, loss of privilege.
  • 4th time - Reflection sheet, community service in school.

Rude to the Teachers

Consequence:

  • 1st time - Counseling by the teacher, Reflection sheet by the child.
  • 2nd time - Reflection sheet, loss of privilege, community service.
  • 3rd time - Reflection sheet, Meeting with parents(s) and Principal.
  • 4th time - Suspension for a week.

Abusive Language Consequence:

  • 1st time - Counseling, Reflection sheet by the child.
  • 2nd time - Reflection sheet, loss of privilege.
  • 3rd time - Reflection sheet, loss of privilege, community service.
  • 4th time - Meeting with Academic Co-ordinator, parent(s).
  • 5th time - Meeting with the Principal and Parent (s).
  • 6th time - Suspension

Not speaking in English Consequence:

  • 1st time - Counseling, Reflection sheet by the child.
  • 2nd time - Reflection sheet, Counseling, loss of privilege.
  • 3rd time - Reflection sheet, loss of privilege.

Hitting another child in school or in transport

Consequence:

  • 1st time - Counseling, Reflection sheet by the child.
  • 2nd time - Reflection sheet, meeting with the Academic Co-Orindator and Principal.
  • 3rd time - Reflection sheet, Meeting with the Principal and Parent (s).

Damaging School Property

Consequence:

  • Reflection sheet by the child and cost of item damaged to replace the item.
